MONDAY 3/3 at Nation9

  • 2:45-4pm Seniors & Juniors

  • 4-5pm Sophomores

  • 5-6pm Freshmen

Tuesday 3/4 at Varsity Field

  • All players at 3pm 

VARSITY & JV TEAMS: March 3rd, 4th, 5th

  • ALL 9th-12th graders are required to attend on Monday, March 3rd.

  • 9th graders will be invite only the next 2 days.

  • Location will be determined by weather and provided March 2nd.

FRESHMEN TEAM: March 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th

  • All 9th graders will tryout with V/JV on Monday March 3rd.

  • March 4th, 5th, 6th will be just for the freshmen team

  • Location will be determined by weather and provided by March 1st.

TEAM REGISTRATION

ALL PLAYERS interested in trying out for any Pennsbury Team must complete the

2025 PHS BASEBALL PROSPECTIVE PLAYER FORM

PHYSICALS & CONCUSSION TESTING

  • Players must be registered on ARBITERSPORTS (formerly FamilyID)

    • MUST Be registered by 2/25/25 to ensure approval by 3/3.

    • Must upload one or more of these documents

 

ACADEMIC ELIGBILITY

  • PSD Academic eligibility:

    • Academic Eligibility Reports are run on Fridays throughout the season

      • If you are Failing ONE class, you are considered ineligible from participating in practices and games from MONDAY to SUNDAY of the following week.

      • Because the teams have yet to be selected, you are still eligible to tryout, however, we will take your current grades into consideration for team selections.
         

    • PROGRESS REPORT(printable)

      • Coach Pesci will email this as well on 2/23/25

        • Players must get each of their teachers to sign 2/24-3/3

      • Reports must be turned in to Coach Pesci on 3/3 to tryout.

TRYOUT ATTIRE

  • Players must be dressed in:

    • Baseball Pants

    • Baseball Hat

    • Belt

    • Long Socks

    • Longsleeve Shirt -You can wear any color long sleeve undershirt shirt you want, but outer shirt must be the color below!

    • Color of Shirt by Grade level (doesn’t need to be Pennsbury):

      • 9th grade WHITE

      • 10th grade GRAY

      • 11th grade ORANGE

      • 12th grade BLACK​

  • Bring both CLEATS/SPIKES and TURFS/SNEAKERS daily.  Locations may change and you need to be ready for both!

  • Please write your last name on a piece of White tape and put it on front and back of shirt.

EVALUATIONS

EVALUATIONS: Used for general & position specific skills included, but not limited to:

​

SAQ/BASERUNNING: Home-to-1b, Steal 1b-2b, 2B-Home, position-specific speed/agility
HITTING: Line Drive T score, Bat Exit Velo, Situational Hitting score, LIVE Abs
PITCHERS: Pitch Velo, Pitch Control, Multiple pitches, Pickoff Move, Athleticism
CATCHERS: Pop-1B, Pop-2B, Pop-3B, Blocking, Receiving, Speed-Block/Recovery
INFIELDERS: Throw Velo, Throw Accuracy, Range, Transfers, Fielding %, Speed-5 point drill
OUTFIELDERS: Throw Velo, Throw Accuracy, Drop Stop Catch/Throw, Speed-Drop/Line 60
INTANGIBLES: Coachability, Leadership, hustle, type of teammate, school functioning, etc
PROJECTIBILITY FACTOR: includes grade level, versatility, and potential for development

TEAM PROFILES

VARSITY/JV TEAMS:

Approximately 40 Players total kept for V/JV in grades 9th-12

VARSITY - 9, 10, 11 can dual roster V/JV
12th graders must see significant playing time*
11th must show starting potential this year or next
10th must show they will compete to start or see significant playing time
9th graders compete to see significant playing time

JUNIOR VARSITY - Players can dual roster V/JV
11th graders must be starters (limit  11th graders on JV)
10th must show they will compete to start or see significant playing time
9th graders compete to start or see significant playing time

​

FRESHMEN TEAM - Consists of 9th graders only
16-20 Players kept based on skill level and positional needs
Versatility in position or excels at one position
Locked Roster. No movement up to V/JV

TEAM SELECTIONS

& COMMUNICATION

TEAM SELECTIONS:

7-9 coaches will evaluate players daily. ALL coaches will meet and select teams. Coach Pesci has final decision on all rosters.

Monday: Some Freshmen players will be invited back to continue V/JV Tryouts. All other freshmen will begin Freshmen team tryouts on Tuesday.

​

Wednesday: Varsity & JV Team will be selected.

Individual VIRTUAL meetings will be held.

​

Wednesday/Thursday: Freshmen team will be selected.

IN-PERSON meetings will be held.

  • All communication regarding tryouts and team selections should be between the PLAYERS AND COACHES as much as possible.

 

  • We will meet with players individually most likely via a virtual setting for player convenience to discuss team selections.

 

  • We ask that parents refrain from contacting coaches about team selections.

 

  • If a player does not make the team and needs further information, the player can contact me to set up a follow-up meeting.
